In God We Do Not Trust: Mark Driscoll's Take On The Election

Over at Mark Driscoll's blog at the Resurgence, he has some very thoughtful insights on how Christians view and should view the election. This post was very convicting to me, and has really put some direction in my life. I hope you will check it out, and leave your thoughts here. May we put our total trust in God and in the atonement of Jesus Christ, and stop being as the Israelites looking for an earthly king to save us. He is the King, and is ruler of all and will one day take His rightful place on His throne.

I voted to day and it felt great for the first time. I felt lik I was making a difference in this historical election. I know that no matter what happens that God is still God. He is in control. I think as believers we need to realize that our citzenship is in heaven which is far greater than any citizenship that we have on this earth. Scot great post and thoughts. Thanks for sharing these articles with us. I have been blessed. I hope you have a great election day! :-)

Found you via Jim Leasure. I'm a great fan of most of what you read and study, but most of all Jesus Christ. Find me at www.jodylynne.blogspot.com

Right,
People want to be saved. People want to be free and safe.
My prayers for our nation are now for our morality and the many individuals who need to come to Christ as their savior and king.
My belief is that we are not a moral country. And God is about to take issue with us.

Hi Scott.

Jim passed on your blog email to me. I am Russ Murray, and I am a Reformed theologian with a PhD under review. The topic is the problem of evil. I take a strong view on God's sovereignty within creation and hold to a Reformed view on election/those God chooses.

I have several related articles on my MPhil and PhD subjects. If you are interested in reciprocally linking, please let me know.

Amen! Now we need to pray that God will sway the hearts of our leaders. I have been reminded that God's works are seen most in times of adversity, and His people are more united also in adversity. We (Christians) need to come together in Truth.

Hey Scott,
I seem to be running into some bloggers who do not necessarily want to exchange in hosting links. However, I do feel they will interact.
Here is one for you to visit. His name is Yung Suk Kim - Click here to visit Check out his profile page and read the blog that discusses The Theology of Paul.

Scott,
Yung Suk Kim's blog will no longer accept comments.
Here is another blogger who will be returning for some serious blogging in about a week. Her name is Patricia Hickman - click here to go to her blog .
Something else you may be interested to know that the media is not covering. The Supreme Court of the U.S. has denied Berg's petition. However, the Supreme court has issued a writ, mandating that Obama hand over a vaulted copy of his birth certificate by 1 Dec. 2008. Read about that at this link Talk Wisdom _ Click here .

Scot I heard one pastor say that he was going to vote for Jesus for president. Another paster turned to him and said, "why would you want to demote him." :-) I thought that was great because Jesus Christ is King of King and Lord of Lords.

Soctt,
I hope you are feeling welll. I have been praying for your mom and your family that all is safe and that God's richest blessing cover everyone. One thing I have found out in my life and ministry is that God is so good. No matter what happens in life good or bad God works it for His good. Strengthening our faith.

I love you blog.
As I have said before it is one of the best Christian blogs on the internet. Keep up the great work brother.

Scott,

Sorry to hear of your problems and discouragement I read elsewhere. I know that preaching the word is not always easy or popular. There will always be those who accept it and make changes, and those who cannot accept it or make changes.

I encourage you to continue serving the Lord in this way.
